The farms’ route originated from a collaboration between the Rural Guild Bocholt and the municipality Bocholt. It’s a discovery tour along numerous meadows and fields, grain crops and vegetable fields, dairy and pig farms hidden behind the green open spaces and beautiful landscapes. Cycling through the Heathland

'Cycling through the Heathland'  is the latest experience route straight through the Mechelse Heide. On the route from junction 550 to 551 you can enjoy beautiful views of the natural landscape from the monumental wooden bridge, which is almost 300 meters long. In the summer season you can enjoy a purple sea of flowers here. The heathland is at its best at the end of August.

As with the earlier mine tunnels with wooden struts, a fine-meshed structure of beams and columns was constructed. The bridge walls are made of Limburg pine wood, another nod to the mining past.

The bridge connects the National Park on either side. This gives cyclists a wide view over the heathland landscape and offers them a safe crossing. In the distance, horses graze and many animal species have their natural habitat.

Park your car at the free parking of the Lieteberg Visitor Center (Stalkerweg 46) and leave for junction 550 or 551 for a day full of cycling fun.
